Supporting young people across the communities we serve.
Investing in our future generations.
StreetwYzeCollaborative community action through StreetwYze.
We work in collaboration with local schools, third sector organisations and statutory services to provide the needs-led, issue-based groupwork StreetwYze programme in secondary schools. StreetwYze is FARE Scotland’s flagship youth engagement programme, designed to tackle anti-social behaviour, gang violence, and social exclusion through early intervention, education, and community outreach.
Since its launch in 2012, StreetwYze has supported thousands of young people across Glasgow, helping them build resilience, make positive choices, and become active contributors to their communities.

School-Based Workshops
StreetwYze is a 12-week programme designed to raise awareness of the risks and challenges young people face in their communities. Through open discussion, creative activities, and peer-led learning, we explore topics such as:
Gang involvement and knife crime
Anti-social behaviour
Substance misuse
The impact of social media
Mental health and wellbeing
Young people also help shape the programme by choosing diversionary activities that matter to them.

Community Street Work
Our StreetwYze team is out in the heart of the community—connecting with young people where they live, socialise, and spend time. This evening-based street work is a vital part of our approach, allowing us to reach those who may not engage through traditional school or service settings.
We focus on:
Early Intervention: Identifying and supporting young people at risk of anti-social behaviour, gang involvement, or social isolation.
Relationship Building: Creating safe, trusting environments where young people feel heard, respected, and supported.
Partnership Working: Collaborating with schools, youth services, Police Scotland, and other agencies to ensure joined-up support.
Responsive Engagement: Adapting our approach to meet the needs of each community, whether that’s tackling territorial tensions, supporting mental health, or addressing substance misuse.
Our street work is not just about presence—it’s about purpose. We listen, we guide, and we help young people see a different path.
-
Outreach and Intervention
StreetwYze’s outreach programme is designed to respond to real-time challenges in communities—especially during spikes in youth violence or unrest. We take a restorative, trauma-informed approach, working directly with young people affected by or involved in conflict.
Key features include:
Crisis Response: Rapid deployment of outreach teams to areas experiencing increased violence or gang activity.
Restorative Practice: Facilitating dialogue between young people in conflict, helping them find common ground and move forward.
Hard-Hitting Workshops: Using real-life stories—including testimonies from young people in prison—to explore the consequences of violence, knife crime, and destructive behaviour.
Collaborative Delivery: Working alongside Police Scotland and other partners to provide legal education, emotional support, and pathways to change.
Youth-Led Engagement: Encouraging young people to shape the programme, take ownership of their choices, and become positive influencers in their communities.
This work is intense, emotional, and deeply impactful. It’s about turning pain into purpose—and giving young people the tools to rewrite their story.

Case Study: JD’S JOURNEY “I never thought I’d want to go to college, but now I do. Fare’s always been there for me. They never gave up on me – even when I gave up on myself.”
JD, now 16, has been connected to FARE Scotland since Primary 1. From early on, school was a struggle—he found it hard to concentrate, often clashed with teachers, and eventually disengaged altogether. By high school, JD was barely attending and had started spending time with older peer groups, getting involved in anti-social behaviour.
Staff maintained close contact with JD and his family, offering consistent support through after-school clubs, sports, and weekend trips. When JD needed essentials, FARE quietly stepped in. Most importantly, they listened—without judgement—and gave him a safe space to talk and be himself.
At 15, JD joined a personal development programme through StreetwYze. It was practical, hands-on, and focused on teamwork, confidence, and life skills. For the first time, JD felt capable and valued. He learned to manage his temper, take responsibility, and work with others.
Now, JD has completed a short construction skills course and is applying for college to study joinery. He’s also volunteering at youth sessions, giving back to the community that supported him.
