FARE Community Allotment: Help us restore this place of peace, nurture, and learning

A backyard with a wooden shed that has blackened windows and signs of fire damage, a small garden with plants, and a white fabric structure with holes and tears in the foreground.

In November 2024, the FARE Community Allotment was devastated by a senseless act of vandalism that led to a fire.

With spring approaching, we are eager to rebuild the lost infrastructure and replace all that was destroyed — but we can’t do it alone.

We invite individuals and businesses to support our fundraising efforts to help restore this vital community space.

How you can help

Our award-winning allotment, located on Drumlanrig Avenue in Easterhouse, is a cherished resource for local nurseries, schools, adult clubs, and families — a place where the community comes together to sow, grow, and harvest vegetables. It offers invaluable outdoor learning experiences for children and young people through its sensory garden, mud kitchens, and play areas, while also providing a tranquil space for wildlife spotting, birdwatching, and connecting with friends of all ages.

Tragically, the fire destroyed our newly built hut — affectionately known as The Chateau — which provided shelter for visitors during wet and cold weather. It also consumed countless resources and supplies, including gardening tools, play equipment, seeds, books, and more. The polytunnel, crucial for growing a variety of fruits and vegetables year-round, was vandalised and rendered unusable.

This tragic incident has left the allotment in dire need of repairs to restore its role as a vital hub for learning and community-building activities.
