Integration

Every year FARE coordinates a number of high adrenaline integrated activities, which gives various young people from all over Greater Easterhouse the opportunity to get to know each other in a safe environment. The Friday night Mer Tae Me, a project that allows young people to participate in a diverse range of sporting activities, such as basketball, dance, tennis and more, playing games consoles, DJ workshops and the use of arena extreme as well as taking part in gang and territorial workshops. There are also integrated Go-Karting leagues, football leagues and many integrated outward bound activities. All these activities are aimed at tackling the issues surrounding territorialism whilst having FUN.

Go Karting League 2007/08
altThe culmination of a year long Friday night project resulted in the final being contested by young people from across the Greater Easterhouse area. With each area taking part in four Friday night sessions the fastest two drivers came together for the integrated final at Extreme Karting in Falkirk.

A hotly contested final session resulted in Darren Wilson picking up the first prize for the fastest overall lap with Paul Boyle coming in for second place and Scott Paterson rounding up the top three! Great credit goes to all the young people who attended the sessions and we look forward to holding more integrated league events in the future.

Graffiti Projects
altFARE in conjunction with the local housing associations, came together over the last year to tackle the issue of graffiti across the local communities. From Bishoploch and Rogerfield to Blairtummock and Easthall – the impact in the surrounding areas was there for everyone to see!

Since April 2007, eight different projects within Easterhouse have taken place within the communities involving various generations of local people – from young people in nurseries to teenagers and grandparents alike, they have all taken part and put their touch in these unique projects.
