Inspiring Scotland

altMore Choices More Chances Officers

Through funding from Inspiring Scotland, FARE have been able to employ three workers to work in secondary schools throughout Glasgow beginning with Lochend, Smithycroft and St Andrews and expanding another three schools each year until the whole of Glasgow is covered.  The MCMC officers will be working primarily with S3 and S4 pupils with a focus on workshops addressing Moral Thinking and Reasoning, Conflict Resolution, Community Involvement and Peer Education.  Some of these issues are also addressed in partnership with the Emergency Services and allow us at FARE to tackle young people’s perceptions of them and barriers they perceive in their lives.

The young people involved in the schools will also benefit from getting registered with the Duke of Edinburgh award and will be given the support needed for them to get the bronze or silver award which will aid them immensely in not only their self development but also when they venture out into the world of work.

The MCMC officers will provide continuing support for the young people even after they leave school and assist them with the transition into further education, employment or training.

We are also working with 14-19 year olds on an outreach basis throughout Glasgow’s East End, taking the service into the community to again, provide them the support to develop the skills and confidence to move on into further education, employment or training.
