FARE Garden
Thursday, 26 May 2011 14:09
As some people may know FARE have a garden outside their building but nothing has yet been planted there due to the weeds that have been growing. So as part of my John Muir award, myself and a group of young people will be helping to create a garden that looks presentable and is somewhere exciting for young children to go and explore.
As part of the project I will be helping to dig up all the weeds that have grown there and plant some flowers, fruit, vegetables and trees that will attract insects and birds to the garden. We will also be re-soiling the garden because nothing would grow in it due to there being lots of rubble. We are hopeful that in a few months the garden will be presentable for children and young people to go and look around and see the different insects and plants that will be blooming in the garden and help to maintain it by watering the plants, picking the fruits and vegetables once they have grown. The garden requires a lot of work to be done to it and we are very hopeful it will be worth the effort in the end.
We are still looking for volunteers to help out with garden. If you are interested contact FARE on 0141 771 9151 or drop in and speak to a member of staff.
