FARE - well to rubbish in Rogerfield!
Thursday, 31 March 2011 16:26
Local young people and those not feeling so young gathered on Saturday 26th March 2011 to take part in a litter pick up in the Rogerfield area. This event took place in partnership with the Glasgow wide Keep Scotland Tidy initiative and supported by local residents, young people and Blairtummock & Rogerfield Housing.
Some of the young people that attended have been attending a 15 week ‘Mer Tae Me’ programme, with FARE funded by GHA and Scottish Government. Throughout the 15 week programme they had been involved in various workshops such as alcohol, healthy eating and gang reduction. They wanted to get involved in the community and decided on doing the litter pick up. They have also been listening to how they can be more environmental friendly with recycling etc. On completion of the programme they will also gain a Dynamic Youth Award.
Throughout the day, as the bags gathered and rubbish was identified there was definitely a difference being seen in the streets and landscape. Many thanks to all those that took part, and here’s hoping it wasn’t in vain and that bins will be being used in helping to keep Rogerfield clean.
